About Us:
Hall Brothers, Inc. was established in 1917 by Ed and Percy Hall. Later, Fred, Jack, and Vernon Hall joined their brothers. In 1964 Al and Wanda Kistner, son-in-law and daughter of Jack Hall, added their business experience and in 1972 gained ownership of the company. In 1992 Richard Hall Kistner, son of Al and Wanda Kistner, became President of the company.
Hall Brothers, Inc. purchased their first hot mix asphalt plant in the 1950's, and at the present time currently have four in operation. From the 1950's to the present, the business has been involved in asphalt paving and has completed many projects ranging from paving secondary roads and aided in the development of the Kansas highway system and Interstate highway system.
Hall Brothers, Inc. is pre-qualified by the Kansas Department of Transportation for asphalt paving, aggregate base, chip seal, cold mix, curb and gutter, and aggregate surfacing.
In the fall of 2005, Hall Brothers, Inc. purchased the Nova Chip processing and equipment operation along with the Nova Chip personnel from Ritchie Paving and Construction, Inc. in Wichita, Kansas. This includes the states of Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Louisiana.. Hall Brothers incorporated is the largest novachip applicator in the United States of America.
Asphalt Plant Maufacture of Hot Mix:
Hall Brothers, Incorporated is in the hot mix production business. Currently we have 4 asphalt plants located in North Central and Northeast Kansas. These plants are capable of producing 300 tons of hot mix per hour.
Hall Brothers Paving:
We have numerous paving crews who pave parking lots, secondary roads, highways and Interstates througout the state of Kansas.
Hall Brothers paving crews have been recognized locally and nationally for their high quality and safety.
Sand and Gravel Operation:
Blue River Sand and Gravel was established in 1926 by a group of businessmen in the Blue Rapids and Waterville area. Alva Stryker, one of the original stockholders, purchased the business in 1948 and was carried on by his two sons Floyd and Russell Stryker in 1963. Hall Brothers acquired Blue River Sand and Gravel in 1985. The business is engaged in surface mining and processing of sand and gravel. The business supplies various types of aggregate material for road construction, road maintenance and building construction. Special products include well gravel for water wells and patio rock for landscaping.

NovaChip:
NovaChip is a paving process that places a thin, coarse aggregate hot mix over a special asphalt membrane.
The special NovaBond membrane prevents water leakage and provides a superior bond to the old asphalt or concrete surface. NovaChip combines a surface seal with a hot mix level-paving surface and the flexibility of a thin maintenance treatment, which results in a durable surface.
One of the NovaChip advantages of the overlay to dispose of water quickly off the surface, thus reducing roadway spray from vehicles and providing greater visibility in wet weather. This is accomplished through it coarse aggregate matrix. Along with a reduction in roadway spray, the skid resistance of NovaChip is very high, which makes the product desirable at locations where loss of traction due to wet pavement is an issue. Other advantage of NovaChip are its quick, one-pass, thin lift, and estimated long lasting performance.
